UniMAP Graduates Possess High Marketability

KANGAR, 29 May (Bernama) – The marketability of Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) Diploma graduates recorded a high percentage of 87.3 percent last year.

UniMAP Vice Chancellor Prof Datuk Zul Azhar Zahid Jamal said that as high as 94.92 percent of Diploma of Microelectronic Engineering graduates found employment by July 2015, six month after receiving their diplomas.

“Many UniMAP Diploma graduates had also qualified to pursue their Bachelor Degrees at UniMAP or another university.

“There are even those who have continued on their studies to Masters Degree and Doctorate (PhD) levels,” he said during the family briefing at the Diploma student registration and the Orientation Week Programme for the Academic Session 2016/2017 at UniMAP UniCITI Alam Sungai Chuchuh Campus, Padang Besar today.

He said that UniMAP's Bachelor Degree graduates who became employed in 2015 was 89.6 percent, which was third place among 20 public universities.

For the Academic Session 2016/2017, UniMAP offered 480 places to new students who will attend six Diploma programmes namely Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Microelectronic Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and Metallurgical Engineering.

From that number, UniMAP expects 380 students to accept the offer.

UniMAP's priority is to ensure the number of students attending each programme is not excessive, which is about 60 students per programme.

“This is to ensure lecturers are able to give better attention to the quality of the learning programme being offered,” explained Zul Azhar.

Program Eksplorasi Maritim III KLKM Laut UniMAP Bersama APMM 2016

Langkawi 18 Mei: Seramai 40 ahli Kumpulan Latihan Kelana Mahasiswa Laut (KLKM) Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) mengikuti program Eksplorasi Maritim III bersama Agensi Penguatkuasaan Maritim Malaysia (APMM) 2016 di Langkawi baru-baru ini.

Timbalan Pengarah Pusat Ko-Kurikulum UniMAP Ahmad Nasir Che Rosli   berkata program selama dua hari itu menumpukan latihan aktiviti air dan ilmu berkaitan pelayaran merangkumi seamanship, navigasi, teknikal dan penguatkuasaan.

“Para peserta diberikan pendedahan ilmu di air oleh jurulatih KLKM Laut UniMAP manakala program pelayaran dibuat oleh pihak APMM melibatkan dua buah kapal iaitu KM Tenggol dan KM Sikuati. 

“Ia bertujuan untuk memantapkan silibus ko-kurikulum KLKM Laut UniMAP selain peserta banyak didedahkan dengan ilmu teori didalam kelas sekaligus dapat menambah ilmu sedia ada,” katanya ketika ditemui di Pengkalan Daerah Maritim 1 Langkawi, di sini.

Ujar beliau lagi, semua modul itu amat berguna kepada semua peserta  terutamanya kepada yang meminati aktiviti air terutamanya bagi tujuan keselamatan.

“Ilmu yang didedahkan semasa aktiviti air dapat membantu peserta bagi menangani perkara buruk yang boleh berlaku semasa melakukan aktiviti air seperti memberi bantuan awal sekiranya berlakunya kejadian tidak diingini seperti kejadian lemas.

“Justeru, saya berharap program seperti ini bersama APMM ini dapat dianjurkan lagi pada masa hadapan kerana pengisiannya adalah amat bermanfaat kepada ahli KLKM Laut UniMAP,” kata beliau.

 

Sementara itu, pihak APMM turut melakukan demonstrasi penguatkuasaan dimana demo penahanan bot yang disyaki melanggar undang-undang maritim dibuat sebagai pendedahan kepada para peserta.

Turut hadir pada program ini ialah Leftenen Komander Maritim Mohd Aizad Zainudin yang mewakili Laksamana Pertama Maritim Wilayah Utara, Laksamana Pertama Maritim Tan Kok Kwee.<
