UniMAP Begins Cooperation With DIU
DHAKA, 13 Jan (Bernama) -- Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) expanded its international network upon establishing a cooperation with Daffodil International University (DIU), a renowned university in Bangladesh here last night.
Both universities signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to among other things implement collaborations in research, consultation, expertise and intellectual exchanges.
Representing UniMAP was its Vice Chancellor Prof Emeritus Datuk Dr Kamarudin Hussin while DIU was represented by its Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Yusuf Mahbubul Islam during the event that took place at the Kurmitola Golf Club.
The Raja Muda Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, who is the UniMAP Chancellor was present to witness the signing of the MoU. Also attending was the Chairman of DIU, Md Sabur Khan.
Dr Kamarudin said that the relationship between UniMAP and DIU has long been established via several joint activities, and the MoU signing was held to strengthen that bond.
“This MoU is UniMAP's first with a Bangladeshi institute of higher education,” he told Bernama.
He said UniMAP has targeted itself to be among the 500 best universities in the world by 2020 and is confident that this is achievable with the present momentum of achievements.
The number of UniMAP students also grew from 114 pioneer students to the present total of over 13,000 students including hundreds of international students.
30 Bangladeshis are among the many international students who chose to further their studies at UniMAP.
