UniMAP Distributes Over 10,000 Packages Of Bubur Lambuk
KANGAR, 23 June – In conjunction with the blessings of the month of Ramadhan Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) through the UniMAP Islamic Centre produced over 10,000 packs of bubur lambuk to be distributed in three phases beginning today.
UniMAP Vice Chancellor Datuk Prof. Dr. Kamarudin Hussin said that the first phase of distribution will go to the Hospital Tuanku occupants, followed by seven welfare homes, retirement homes and orphanages on 30 June. The final phase (6 July) will see distribution to students in four religious boarding schools in Perlis.
He explained that what made this special was that the distributed bubur lambuk was cooked by UniMAP staff members themselves in a scheduled rotation, from preparation of ingredients to packaging.
“The distribution of the bubur lambuk is part of the University Social Responsibility (USR) which had become tradition from when UniMAP was known as Kolej Universiti Kejuruteraan Utara Malaysia (KUKUM).
“This time, the Faculty of Engineering Technology (FTK), the School of Human Development & Technocommunication (iKOM) and the Library Department had been awarded the responsibility of heading the communal activity, aided by employees of the UniMAP Islamic Centre and Security Department,” he said in a statement here today.
Besides making and distributing the bubur lambuk UniMAP has also organised 22 other programmes specially to celebrate the month of Ramadhan, including Tilawah Al-Quran, Tadarus Al-Quran, Inter-Departmental Nasyid Competition, Friday Prayers with the Perlis Community and donations to flood victims.
Meanwhile the Dean of FTK Prof. Madya Dr. Che Mohd. Ruzaidi Ghazali said that 10 bubur lambuk pots were used for cooking today, involving 80 workers consisting of FTK's administrative and academic staff.
“We are proud to be able to successfully run USR activities such as this specifically to prepare moderate dishes for breaking of fast to those in need. Besides that, these activities are great platforms to strengthen fellowship between FTK administrative and academic personnel,” he disclosed.
