Facilities
Like any other good universities, UniMAP strives hard to develop a conducive study ambience. Here are a sample of what we have to offer.
Residential Colleges
UniMAP takes pride in offering almost 100% of its students in-campus accomodation. Campus life lets you meet new people, indulge in untried environments, and experience different cultures. We provide a range of amenities to make you feel right at home. Accomodation consists of three or four-bedroomed houses which are fully furnished, providing high standard of comfort. Within the residential colleges, student counseling and advisory services are available throughout the semester. In addition, University buses frequent these colleges to provide free-of-charge transportation for students and staff alike during the semester.
Sports and Recreation
The University organises a choice of activities throughout the semester. International-fest is one example, where there are -among others- foodsale, cultural shows, talent-time, dinners, and other stimulatinh activities that can hone students management and organisational skills. You also get the chance to interact with members of the local community. There are also events such as Chinese New Year celebration, Aidilfitri festivities, Deepavali get-together, 'Battle of the Band' competition, Nasyid Festival, Poco-Poco, Futsal, Nestball, Football, Indoor Games, And of Year Dinner Celebration. and many many more.
For sports, there is the Sports Centre, which is a unit within the Student Affairs Division, that manages sports facilities and activities. It fosters team building and physical fitness amongst students and staff. There are volleyball, takraw, netball, tennis, badminton, futsal and multi-purpose courts. For fitness fans, tehre is a well-equipped gymnasium and an aerobic square for aerobic activities.
As a student, you can participate in sports as well as other activities either informally at your own pleasure, or formally through various co-curiculum courses offered during the semester. You must fulfill certain co-curriculum requirements in order to be eligible for graduation. You can choose to join canoeing, hockey, taekwando, silat, and badminton, among others.
Internet Facilities
UniMAP has a technologically superior broadband data network. This network provides access to multimedia sources of information originating internally and externally. Access to University Library services, large information datasets and the Internet is provided free of charge via the University network. The commitment to provide the most up-to-date networking capabilities for UniMAP students and staff assures continous improvement and increased computing convenience for all.
As a student, you can download lecture notes from the UniMAP portal. You can also interact with your lecturers and many members of staff, particularly heads of departments, via the portal 24 hours day.
Cafeteria
Our cafeterias serve a wide range of cuisines - Malaysia and non-Malaysian. They are open from 7am to 11pm everyday.
University Library
Our library is a gateway to a comprehensive collection of books, journals, periodicals, student projects and other related publications. It supports the teaching, learning and research activities of the University. With its customer-focused orientation and the abundant use of information technology, the University Library inspires to be the leading engineering library in this region.
Bus Service
UniMAP provides university bus service for students. The service operates frequently in designated campus routes from residential colleges to lecture halls and other academic support centres located in many parts of the state of Perlis.
Laboratories
Learning and understanding of teh various fields of knowledge at different levels is supported by laboratory work. This is undertaken in fully-equipped laboratories. In fact, this is one of the most highly-prized features of the University - that of more than 100 state-of-the-art laboratories. Students get access to these labs from their first year here. Some of our labs are truly the envy of many universities in the country as well as abroad. Even high tech companies use them (under our expert training and supervision) to upgrade the skills of their staff.
Lecture Rooms
All classrooms and lecture halls are equipped with audio-visual, media and computing facilities to support learning in class. Many of these rooms are located close to laboratories as well as cafeterias.
Sundry
Sundry shops in residential colleges and numerous shops in Kangar and Kuala Perlis help students meet their daily needs and provide a wide range of stationary provisions. Photocopy services are alse provided in most of the shops.
