Curative Courses

Curative courses are essentially repeat courses offered during the long break after Semester II.

They last for 3 weeks, and are intended to help students who are short of only a few units before graduation, or those who must take certain critical courses which may not be offered in the following semester, or those who might have difficulty fulfilling their maximum study period before graduation (the maximum study period allowed is 10 semesters for degree programmes). Registration for curative courses is very limited, and is subject to approval by the Dean. Only tutorial sessions are conducted. At the end of the 3-week period, there is a one-week examination session.

The results of the final examination of the curative course are combined with the results of the relevent examinations taken during regular semesters to get the average result, and hence, the student’s academic status. If the average result is better, the student is given this new result. However, if the average result is lower, the student’s previous result is maintained.
