“Pahlawan Tegar Merdeka’ Was Launched.

Pauh, August 21 – A book entitled, “Pahlawan Tegar Merdeka” (in translation; ‘Independent Warriors’), tells the story of the role of national security team when facing the rebellious Malaya Communist Party between the year 1948 till 1980, was launched today.

The ceremony was officiated by Brig. Gen. Datuk Prof. Dr. Kamarudin Hussin, the Vice Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Perlis, alongside Prof. Dr. Zaharani Ahmad, Deputy Director of Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka, Kuala Lumpur.

 

The book was written by the national historian, Prof. Datin Paduka Datuk Dr. Hajah Ramlah Adam, who is also the Director of the Malaysian Royal Institutions Research Centre, UniMAP.

 

Prof. Dr. Kamarudin commented that through the production of the book, indirectly, will nurture the younger generation to deepen their love for the nation with increased sense of patriotisme.

“I believe that this book will serve as a valuable reference in our effort to better understand the hardships that was endured by our nation fighters among the security team members; the army, police and Commando VAT 69”.

 

 “This book was produced on the awareness to honor and recognize the role, contributions and sacrifices of these members of the national security team,” said him during the launching ceremony of “Pahlawan Tegar Merdeka”, in conjunction with the 57th Independence Day Celebration in UniMAP.

 

Present during the ceremony was, SAC Dato’ Azizan Abd. Aziz, the Commander of Commando 69 and Prof. Datin Paduka Hajah Ramlah Adam, the Director of the Malaysian Royal Institutions Research Centre, UniMAP. Also present were the members of the Veteran Society of VAT 69 Commando, members of the Armed Forces Veterans Association Malaysia Perlis and Kedah, the Association of Former Members of the Malaysian Police Perlis and Kedah, and the Association of Former Members of the National Security Team Malaysia Perlis and Kedah.

 

Published by Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka, this book is available in the market for RM90.

 

In addition, Prof Dr. Kamarudin also said that within the book, 50 other iconic figures has also discussed in length, their roles and contributions to the nation and race. Several among them has sadly passed away but most of them are still in good health and were enthusiastically present during the ceremony today.

In recognition of the publication, the publisher also presents the book “Pahlawan Tegar Merdeka” to those whose name appears in the book.
