UniMAP To Set Up Global Green Technology And Geopolymer Network
PULAU PINANG – Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) will set up the Global Green Technology and Geopolymer Seven Network (3G7) through a collaboration with six other universities around the world to enrich development of research in the fields.
Its vice chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Kamarudin Hussin said seven areas will be the main focus, namely geopolymer, green metallurgy, green environment, green recycling polymer/rubber, green electronic material, green ceramic and green corrosion.
"The objective is to meet a growing demand for green technology and geopolymer as well as interdisciplinary activities by conducting joint-research and outreach programmes," he told reporters after launching the International Conference Advance Materials Engineering and Technology 2012 (ICAMET) here today.
He said the cooperation is expected to design new solutions to preserve the nature and reduce pollution via green invention. Among the members of the 3G7 are University of Sheffield, United Kingdom, Petra Christian Univerisity, Indonesia, Univerisity of Lille 1, France, University of Queensland, Australia, Khon Kaen University of Thailand and Islamic Azad University from Iran.
Meanwhile, 200 academicians, research organisations and students are participating in the ICAMET 2012 encompassing participants from 15 countries - Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, China, India, Bangladesh, Algeria, Australia and Malaysia. The two-day conference is the premier forum for the presentation of new advances and research results in the fields of advanced material engineering and technology.
