100% Success Was Achieved By Malaysian Women Researchers

KOREA –Women researcher delegation from Malaysia have achieved 100% success at the Korean International Women’s Invention Exposition (KIWIE 2013), which was held for four days.

Overall, the delegation from Malaysia, who comprises of researchers from Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) and also young researchers from all over the country, have won 3 gold medals, 5 silver and 4 bronze medals.

Vice Chancellor of UniMAP, Brig. Gen. Dato’ Prof.Dr.KamarudinHussin, have expressed that he is very proud of the 3 researchers’ achievement at the exposition as they have won 3 gold medals among other women researchers from more than 30 countries,  which included Croatia, Taiwan, Egypt, Germany, Iran, Mongolia, Russia, Malaysia etc.

“I was informed that there are 450 participations participated in this exposition and all the products contested had shown high innovation and technology; hence UniMAP’swomen researchers’ achievement is something we should all be proud of.”

“It is now evident that UniMAP’s efforts in instilling the culture of being innovative and its efforts in producing researcheshave now been realised,” he said.

This exposition was held at the COEX Exhibition Hall in Seoul, South Korea.

Dato’Prof.Dr.Kamarudin shared that the first gold medal won by Dr.RozyantyRahman was through her product-KEN-REST: Multipurpose and High Performance Eco-Friendly Hybrid Composite.

The second gold was grabbed by LiyanaJamaludin with her product titled “High Chemical Resistance Geopolymer Pipeline (HCRGC)” and the third gold medal was contributed by JunitaMohdNOrdin with her product of Optic System CDMA.

“Besides that, UniMAP is also proud of the other two products invented by two of its researchers. Researcher AlidaAdullah, with her product, ‘Novel Volcano Ash Artificial Aggregate’, had won silver medal and had received the KIWIE Grand Award as well as another special award from Arab Saudi, while researcher Nooraisedfa on the other hand, had won special award from Turkey,” he added.  

According to Dato’ Prof.Dr.Kamarudin, UniMAP’s young researchers under the wings of the Envex Young Researchers Club (EYReC) did not go back empty handed. They had brought back silver and bronze medals.

“Students from SekolahMenengahSains (SMS) Sekangor, SMS Sultan MohamadJiwa and SekolahTun Fatimah have won silver medals, whereas SekolahPuteriPokokSena, SMS Seksyen 24 (2) and SMS Seri Puteri had won bronze medals in the competition,” he further explained.
