120 Student Complete FPGA Professionals Course

Kuala Perlis , May 5 - A total of 120 students successfully completed the professional courses Field Programmable Gate Array ( FPGA ) at Industry Centre of Excellence AMBIENCE Kuala Perlis, recently.

Vice Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), Brig. Gen Datuk Prof Dr Kamarudin Hussin said that all students have received professional certification FPGA are from 3rd and 4th year undergraduate students.

"I believe that graduates who have a bachelor's degree and professional certification FPGA, has been equipped with high skills and able perform well in their future career.

In addition, professional certification will also be supporting certificate for them to be absorbed in related industries as this industry will get a graduate of the "Ready Made" , he added after launching of FPGA Lab .

Also present on the occasion Managing Director and Vice President of Asia Pacific Altera Corp Sdn Bhd ( Altera ) , Datuk Dr Mohd Sofi Osman and Chief Executive Officer of the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA) Datuk Redza Rafiq Abdul Razak .

Laboratory costing a total of RM600,000 was a joint contribution of NCIA and Altera .

Prof Dr Kamarudin said it was the result of collaboration with Altera and NCIA with UniMAP under an integrated concept to provide a place for student to study FPGA professional courses for one semester that will qualify them for certification under the control of the School of Microelectronic Engineering, UniMAP and Industry Centre of Excellence AMBIENCE.

Industry Centre of Excellence AMBIENCE which was officially opened on 22 November 2012 and has a value that is significant in the university's mission to set a higher benchmark for its mission.

" UniMAP became the first university in Malaysia to have laboratories that focus one hundred percent on the Design & Fabrication of microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) and FPGA technologies .

Industry Centre of Excellence AMBIENCE is also the referral center and world class research industry 's first of its kind in Malaysia and with the advice of the industry, it will be used for research and development collaboration with industry, " he said.
