JIU Accepts First Batch Of Perlis Students For Women Leadership Programme

TOKYO, April 5 (Bernama) -- Josai International University (JIU) has accepted five students sponsored by Yayasan Tuanku Fauziah Perlis to undergo a one-year Women's Leadership course there.
Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) acting vice chancellor Datuk Prof Dr Zul Azhar Zahid Jamal said the gesture would pave the way for further cooperation between the foundation, JIU and UniMAP.
He said discussions among the three parties which were held in Japan yesterday proved to be fruitful.
To this end, he said, UniMAP had agreed to host a forum to boost relations through sharing of strengths and capabilities in women leadership, alumni management, entrepreneurship in education and concept of charity in university.
Aside from JIU leaders, UniMAP would invite representatives from universities within and outside ASEAN to join the forum which would be held this year, he told Bernama.
Zul Azhar was part of the foundation's delegation that came to Tokyo in conjunction with the acceptance of the five students for the one year course at JIU.
Datuk Prof Emeritus Dr Kamarudin Hussin who is special adviser to the Malaysian Education Minister said the Women's Leadership Programme cooperation between the three parties would be expanded to involve Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam.
He said the foundation would also invite Japanese students to Malaysia to learn more about the syariah financing concept while an entity to coordinate all matters with the ASEAN Centre in JIU would be set up by UniMAP.
Meanwhile, the five selected students are Lim Xin Shi, 25, Khuzaimah Ramli, 25, and Nurul Najwa Halim, 24, from UniMAP, and Nurul Afizan Yaakob, 24, and Nor Salihah Zaini, 24, from UTeM.
The students expressed their gratitude to Yayasan Tuanku Fauziah Perlis for sponsoring them and are confident that the course would spur them in their aspiration to become successful women leaders in future.
