UniMAP KLKM Laut's Eksplorasi Maritim III Programme with APMM 2016

Langkawi 18 May: 40 members of the Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) Malaysian University Rover Training Group (Sea) (KLKM Laut) participated in the Explorasi Maritim III Programme with Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (APMM) 2016 in Langkawi.

UniMAP Deputy Director of the Co-Curriculum Centre Ahmad Nasir Che Rosli said that the two-day programme focused on nautical activity and seamanship training, focusing on navigation, technical and enforcement.

“Participants were exposed to nautical knowledge by UniMAP KLKM Laut instructors while the seamanship programme was conducted by APMM using the ships KM Tenggol and KM Sikuati.

“This is intended to strengthen the UniMAP KLKM Laut co-curricular syllabus, teach participants theory in class and to increase their knowledge on the matter,” he said when met at the Maritime 1 District Base.

He further explained that all modules were beneficial to the attendees  especially for those interested in water activities for the safety purposes.

“The information taught during the nautical activities should help the participants handle any emergencies that arise in the water such as providing first aid to drowning victims.

“Therefore, I hope more programmes with the APMM could organised in the future because its contents are beneficial to the UniMAP KLMM Laut members,” he remarked.

Meanwhile, APMM demonstrated its enforcement procedures in apprehending a vessel suspected for breaking maritime rules as exposure for the participants.

Also present for the programme was Maritime Lieutenant Commander Mohd Aizad Zainudin who represented Northern Region Maritime First Admiral Tan Kok Kwee.
