ICoFM 2016 A Domain For Researchers To Share Ideas

Penang, 7 June – The rapid development of engineering technology has created new and advanced materials that has brought great change to the world.

In the efforts to expand with the development swiftly-evolving technology, the Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) School of Materials Engineering recently organised the International Conference on Functional Materials and Metallurgy (ICoFM 2016) located at the Parkroyal Hotel & Resort.

UniMAP Vice Chancellor Dato’ Prof. Dr. Zul Azhar Zahid Jamal said that ICoFM 2016 is expected to be an impactful platform for researchers to participate in the national development agenda by the sharing of knowledge and ideas among academicians, researchers and industry representatives.

“Students must be aware of latest discoveries to not be left behind in this field.

“In line with the government's wishes to be a developed country and to produce a value-added workforce, UniMAP has taken proactive measures in the field of research and technology with a number of approaches,” he said during the ICoFM 2016 launch.

Also present were the President of the Malaysia Chamber of Mines Dato’ Seri Mohd Ajib Anuar and UniMAP Deputy Vice Chancellor Research and Innovation Prof. Dr. Abdul Hamid Adom.

Three speakers were invited to present. Dato’ Seri Mohd Ajib Anuar presented a paper entitled “Dynamic Business Models for the Mining and Metallurgical Industry”.

Prof. Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Mujahid Ahmad Zaidi, Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia's Dean of Academic and International Management, presented “Modelling and simulation in engineering problems: A case study on development of Semi Empirical model for hardness AZ91 nano-composite prediction” and UniMAP School of Materials Engineering Senior Lecturer Prof. Dr. Azmi Rahmat spoke about “Corrosion Protection at Potential of Zero Charge”.
