The Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) Cultural and Recreational Unit (UKR) organised a Team Building
Langkawi, 1 May – The Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) Cultural and Recreational Unit (UKR) organised a Team Building, Nature Conservation University Social Responsibility (USR) and Busking Street Charity Programme here from 27 April to 1 May recently.
The five-day four-night programme was held at the National Civics Bureau Camp at Langkawi and its surroundings, and was attended by 31 UKR employees and 10 UniMAP students headed by UKR Director Encik Mohd Izwan Izhar Haris.
The first activity, the Character Building Course, was held with the cooperation of the Perlis National Civics Bureau (BTN) furnished with course content such as Mental Discourses, Increasing Knowledge Raising Awareness (PKPK) as well as leisure activities.
For the USR activity, the communal beach cleaning and building of the IM4U monument were held at Pantai Cenang with the aid of the IM4U agency.
In the evening, USR activities continued with the Busking Street Charity event with UniMAP students for two consecutive nights at Cenang Mall. On 30 April, Busking Street Charity was also held with the Harapan Pulau Tuba Cultural Arts Group at the Jetty Point area.
Busking Street Charity was held for the purpose of collecting funds to help the establishment of the UniMAP Autism Hub for Educational Resources and Training (A-HEART) and to promote UKR to the public at the Island of Legend.
The performers sang contemporary, traditional and patriotic songs for Cenang Mall visitors and foreign tourists, who also danced to enliven atmosphere of the performances that night.
A total of RM1,327 was collected and donated to the A-HEART representative that attended the activity.
Altogether, each activity was successfully held thanks to the cooperation of the UKR employees and UniMAP students.
Each activity only served to strengthen ties among, and bringing new environment and providing new experiences to the UKR employees.
Besides BTN and IM4U, other agencies working in cooperation with UKR were the Langkawi District Office, Langkawi Municipal Council, Langkawi Development Authority (LADA), Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) and Jetty Point Reality Sdn Bhd, a private company.
