Give Full Commitment to New UniMAP Vice Chancellor – Raja Muda Perlis
ARAU, 6 June (Bernama) – Raja Muda Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail said that the Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) community must give full commitment to the new Vice Chancellor Datuk Prof Dr Zul Azhar Zahid Jamal to bring the university to excellence.
He said that for a Public University (UA) striving to achieve its target of being in the top 500 universities worldwide, quality of areas of study, high impact programmes, increase of international students and related initiatives are factors that should be given emphasis.
Tuanku Syed Faizuddin who is also the UniMAP Chancellor said that the allocation cuts to UAs are a challenge that is facing the university management to generate income through various new activities, creativity and innovations.
“Use the expertise available and exploit the 14-year knowledge and experience of former Vice Chancellor Professor Emeritus Datuk Dr Kamarudin Hussin to help give UniMAP a boost,” he said.
Tuanku Syed Faizuddin said this after witnessing the handing over of the assignment note from Kamarudin to Zul Azhar at the UniMAP Dewan Kecemerlangan here today.
Raja Puan Muda Perlis Hajah Tuanku Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil, who is also the UniMAP Pro Chancellor, also graced the ceremony with her presence.
He hoped that Kamarudin's efforts to intensify UniMAP's research quality is further enhanced by Zul Azhar, while also optimising Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and the inculcation of values and ethics among the university community.
“I would also like to remind the importance of excellent time and financial management to develop UniMAP standards, guidelines and benchmarks in an effort to achieve the target of being in the top 500 universities in the world,” he declared.
