Pandu Puteri Mesra Komuniti Semarak Ramadhan Programme 2016
Kangar, 25 June – 31 members of the Varsity Girl Guides in the fifth semester of their Diploma programme participated in the Pandu Puteri Mesra Komuniti Semarak Ramadhan 2016 event in Kangar today.
The UniMAP Co-Curriculum Centre Girl Guides Trainer Nor Azurawati Ahmad Zuhdi said the programme focused on Local Community Service which was a contribution of 100 food packages for breaking of fast to public service agencies from proceeds collected from the students themselves.
“Participants were taught that community service is not merely limited to official programmes which require paperwork and a high cost.
“Hence, the participants acquainted themselves with the Malaysian Royal Police, Fire and Rescue Department and the Health Ministry at the Beseri Police Station, Kangar Fire and Rescue Department, Kangar Traffic Police Station and the Hospital Tuanku Fauziah (HTF) Emergency Unit,” she said in a statement.
She expressed that the programme garnered a positive response from the public services departments during the visits and received a pleasant welcome from them while inspiring the participants.
“This indirectly affirms one of the elements of the Girl Guides co-curriculum syllabus which is to practise Girl Guide regulations when dealing with the applicable parties.
“Besides that, the programme succeeded in exposing the participants to the true concept of community service and it is hoped that such programmes could be held in the future,” she added.
The Pandu Puteri Mesra Komuniti Semarak Ramadhan Programme 2016 which began at 2.30 PM at UniCiti Alam Campus, Sungai Chuchuh contributed light meals to public officers on duty for the breaking of their fast.
