UniMAP Shows Appreciation to Researchers and Athletes

Pauh Putra 23 June: Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) commemorates researchers and sports teams that achieve victories at research exhibitions and sports tournaments held last year.

UniMAP Vice Chancellor Dato’ Prof. Dr. Zul Azhar Zahid Jamal said that every achievement gained at that time has made a significant impact for UniMAP.

“We are taking seriously the product creation and journal publications that brings great impact to the Malaysia Research Assessment (MyRA).

“This is because high-impact journal publications are important for the university to increase its MyRA standing and enable researchers to compete for research grants,” he said in his speech during the launching of the Research and Sports Excellence Award Ceremony 2015 and High Impact Journal Excellence Award Ceremony 2014 at Dewan Kecemerlangan UniMAP here recently.

Also present were UniMAP Deputy Vice Chancellor Student Affairs and Alumni Prof. Madya Dr. Mohd Fo’ad Sakdan and UniMAP Registrar Zuber Mohamed.

The Research and Sports Excellence Award Ceremony 2015 and High Impact Journal Excellence Award Ceremony 2014 follows up the UniMAP Seri Gemilang Awards (ASG) which took place in March.

176 researchers and nine sports teams received incentives in the form of cash prizes and certificates of excellence.

Dato’ Zul Azhar added cash prizes were only bestowed to those products winning gold awards and Special Awards, and attended exhibitions that have an impact with regards to MyRA.
