POTENSI'S Sahabat Sahur Programme Visits Security Agencies Throughout Perlis
Kangar, 18 June – In conjunction with the month of Ramadhan, the Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) Administrative Officers and Professionals Association (POTENSI) organised a friendly visit to several security agencies in Perlis and a Jejak Ukhwah courtesy visit to the family of a UniMAP employee who had passed away.
UniMAP Vice Chancellor Dato’ Prof Dr Zul Azhar Zahid Jamal expressed his congratulations at POTENSI's efforts in honouring members of the nation's security forces who are on duty 24 hours a day to ensure the safety of the country.
“Among the security agencies visited were the Kangar Civil Defence Department, Kangar Fire and Rescue Department, UniMAP security posts, border stations and the District Police Headquarters (IPD).
“Besides that, the visit to the family house of UniMAP employee who had passed away clearly displayed POTENSI'S objective during the Sahabat Sahur programme in showing concern for the family,” he said when launching the Singgah Sahur and Jejak Ukhwah Programme here today.
Also present were the UniMAP Deputy Vice Chancellor Student Affairs and Alumni (HEPA) Prof Madya Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan and UniMAP Registrar Encik Zuber Hj Mohamad.
The 3rd POTENSI Singgah Sahur Programme also distributed sahur goodies to members of the security agencies and was attended by 20 POTENSI committee members led by POTENSI President Encik Rusdi Puteh, technical staff members and UniMAP Security.
Meanwhile, during the Jejak Ukhwah event at the family home of the late UniMAP Residential College employee Haslina Ismail, Zul Azhar and POTENSI spent time to mingle with the late Haslina's children who range from 1 to 11 years old.
Haslina's widower Muswadi Musa said that since the death of his wife, his younger children were cared for by his mother and sister when he is at work as a courier at one of Kangar's courier companies.
“Sending them to a child minder would require a lot of money therefore I have to rely on my mother's and sister's help to mind the younger ones while I travel to and from my workplace to send and pick up the ones in school.
“The presence of UniMAP's top management and POTENSI tonight left a deep impression in our hearts because UniMAP still shows concern about our family although my wife has passed away,” he said.
The Singgah Sahur Programme which began at 11 PM ended at 5 AM today with the UniMAP Pauh Putra Permanent Campus security post as its final destination.
