20 Students Receive Donations Through the Kasihnya Ramadhan Programme
Kangar, 21 Jun – 20 underprivileged Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) were chosen to receive donation and aid through the Kasihnya Ramadhan programme organised for the first time by the UniMAP Student Council (MPP).
The programme which was also supported by the UniMAP Student Affairs and Alumni Department (JHEPA) was intended to among others lessen the burdens of underprivileged UniMAP students.
UniMAP Vice Chancellor Dato’ Prof Dr. Zul Azhar Zahid Jamal said, “This contribution would to a certain extent help the underprivileged among UniMAP students.”
“I am proud of the initiative taken by the UniMAP MPP whereby a collection was made from the contributions of UniMAP staff members and management.
“It is my hope that this resource distribution programme will continue for years to come as the number of eligible recipients requiring aid increase,” he said, before launching the event.
Also present were the UniMAP Deputy Vice Chancellor Student Affairs and Alumni Prof. Madya Dr. Mohd. Foad Sakdan and MMP President Rio Iskandar Jazman.
All 20 of the students who have been selected received donations in the forms of cash, hamper and dates.
Meanwhile Rio Iskandar said that besides UniMAP employees, the MPP also collected funds from elected representatives from several areas in Perlis.
“Although the donation is not much, it would at least lessen the burdens for needy students in preparation for Syawal month,” he said.
Recipient Shahirah Amirah Shamshul Shariman, 22, a final year Electrical Engineering Diploma student was grateful to be chosen to receive the donation.
“Seeing that I am a senior student and have to complete my final year project, I am pleased and hopeful that the donation will more or less help lighten the burden for my family and support my expenses here,” she said.
