UniMAP UKR Entertains During Charity Event At Rumah Teduh

Kangar, 1 Julai – Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) Cultural and Recreational Unit (UKR) held an entertainment-during-charity programme with 27 orphans from the Welfare and Charity Association (Rumah Teduh) here recently.

UKR Director Mohd Izwan Izhar Haris said that the programme in conjunction with iftar (breaking of fast) with the underprivileged children took place with a charity busking by UKR performers.

He stated that besides dancing and singing, the Sakan Raja Lawak Group also enlivened the event to cheer the youngsters up, who range between four and 22 years old.

“Besides entertaining them, UKR also donated food and amenities for Aidilfitri celebrations and duit raya to ease their burdens,” he said after delivering the contributions.

Also present were the Rumah Teduh Manager Harisun Abdul Rahman and her husband also the Rumah Teduh religious teacher Azim Zaidi Abdul Rahman.

According to Mohd Izwan, the meal for iftar was sponsored by Restoran Peladang. UKR employees also brought pot luck meals.

“The celebratory mood along with variety of food helped bring joy to the children especially the very young.

“Before departing from Rumah Teduh we spent time playing with fireworks under strict supervision with the children who were excited at our presence,” he said.

Besides being organised by the UKR, the charity programme and iftar event also had the support of the Perlis State National Civics Bureau (BTN).
