ACCCIM Offers Scholarship to UniMAP Student

Kangar, 20 July – The Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM) will offer a scholarship to a Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) student for a Bachelor's Degree course at the university.

UniMAP Vice Chancellor Dato’ Prof. Dr. Zul Azhar Zahid Jamal said that the RM25,000 scholarship was announced by Perlis Chapter ACCIM Chairman Ch’ng Ban Pai during an official visit to his office yesterday.

“The selection criteria, however, has not been decided yet and this would be finalised in a signing ceremony slated for August,” he said in a statement here today.

According to Dr. Zul Azhar, the visit among others was intended for the exchanging of views on the issues pertaining to placement of university graduates in the employment sector.

He stated that ACCIM with the cooperation of the Department of National Unity had previously talked with a number of other universities on addressing employment issues among graduates.

“He (Ban Pai) also recommended that Bumiputera graduates take the opportunity to work at Chinese-owned small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) and ACCIM will help facilitate the process.

“Overall, the early talks were very positive and we also discussed the aspects of training, scholarship and research.

“May this initiative open more doors and opportunities for UniMAP while simultaneously fostering better relations and unity in the spirit of 1Malaysia,” he stated.
