“Kembara Di Bumi Asean”: Academic Visit And Community Programs In Nakhon Si Tammarat
Padang Besar, July 30 - a total of 26 students participated in academic and community service trips 'Kembara di bumi Asean’ for three days and two nights, organized by Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) Residential College Uniciti ALAM with the community in Thasala, Nakhon Si Tammarat Thailand.
The adventure was participated by students from various UniMAP residential colleges began at Tanah Melayu Railway Station (KTM) Padang Besar before heading to Hatyai City and next to Nakhon Si Tammarat.
Uniciti Alam Residential College Principal, Syed Akhmal Syed Jamalil said the purpose of the ASEAN adventure program is one of the highlights of the university in the international arena through academic trips and community service.
He said Walailak University was the delegation’s first destination that involved six assistant principals, college residence manager and employees of the college dormitory residence for the academic visit.
"In Walailak University, students were given exposure to the lifestyle and culture of students in the university that has 700 students, and at the same time it increases the chances of stabilizing the structure of the residential colleges at our university," he said.
According to Syed Akhmal, in addition to the academic visit, the delegation also held a community service program in Prateepsat Ismail Memorial School and Madrowsatul Ulumiddeen by contributing stationery and cash.
"Delegation had the opportunity to hold community activities such as teaching in religious schools, contributed to the private islamic school and sports activities with students.
"Indirectly, this program is not only beneficial to students but also to promote the university, Perlis and Malaysia to the Asean community, especially Thailand," he said.
UniMAP delegation was also able to visit the Wat Phra Mahathat in Nakhon Si Tammarat which is among the most important temple in Thailand apart from being listed among UNESCO World Heritage Site.
