'Jom Masuk UniMAP' Program Offer Opportunities for  University Admission to the  Less Fortunate

Kangar - Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) will continue the program "Jom Masuk UniMAP" specifically to help students who come from families with household income below RM3,000 a month and orphans to pursue their first degree programs offered in the university.

According to the Chairman of the Promotion Committee of the University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rizalafendi Ismail, this program is dedicated to making admission for 2016/2017 academic session that will register this September.

"Prospective students who are interested can visit the roadshow conducted by the Secretariat of Promotion and Academic Management Division of the university in five selected locations in the states of Perlis, Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu and Kuala Lumpur," said him who is also the Dean of the School of Microelectronic Engineering, in a statement here today.

Jom Masuk UniMAP will be held from 6 to 12 August in three locations, namely the UniMAP One Stop Centre at the Kangar EPF building, Anjung UniMAP Kulim in Kulim Hi Tech Park and Anjung UniMAP Kuala Lumpur at the 26th Floor, Menara Dato 'Onn, Putra World Trade Centre ( PWTC).

Jom Masuk UniMAP secretariat will also be in the office of Yayasan Terengganu, Kuala Terengganu on August 6 and Sutera Inn Prima Seminar Room, Kota Bharu, Kelantan, on August 7, from 9 am to 1 pm.

According to Dr Rizalafendi, the program is in line with the government's aspiration that encouraged Public Universities (UA) to reach out including in rural areas to help students who are qualified but less fortunate as not to be left out in education.

"The government is aware that the fierce competition in pursuing higher education has resulted  drop out cases for students living in rural areas," he said.

"Interested students should must bring a copy of the required documents, identity card, pay slips, copy of the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM), Matriculation Certificate / Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia / Diploma, MUET Certificate, certified copies of payslips or declaration of income and OKU Card or JKM Card (if applicable), "he further explained.
