UniMAP Becomes First MS ISO 9001:2015-certified University

KANGAR, 19 August – Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) made history recently by being the first university in the country to be awarded the MS ISO 9001:2015 certification from SIRIM QAS Sdn. Bhd.

UniMAP Vice Chancellor Dato’ Prof. Dr. Zul Azhar Zahid Jamal said that UniMAP succeeded in achieving the target set by former Vice Chancellor Brig. Jen. Datuk Prof. Emeritus Dr. Kamarudin Hussin to be the first Public University (UA) to be awarded the certification.

“This success was achieved after UniMAP passed the recertification and upgrade audit by SIRIM QAS early June and this certification is valid until July 2019.

“I am proud of this achievement which is a result of the hard work of the Centre for Corporate Development and Quality Management which is responsible for coordinating UniMAP's Quality Management System,” he said during an interview recently.

Dato’ Zul Azhar hopes that the certification will be maintained and all UniMAP departments would help implement the Quality Management System based on the new MS ISO 9001:2015 standards in unison .

For the record, UniMAP was previously awarded the MS ISO 9001:2008 certification from SIRIM in July 2013 for Quality Management System and the conferral was only valid for three year ending in July 2016.
