SUKUM Success Inspires UniMAP MASUM Contingent
Pauh Putra, August 21 - Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) Contingent for the Malaysian Universities Sports Council Carnival (MASUM) is hoped to emulate the success of the university’s staff in the Malaysian University Staff Sports Competition held a week ago.
UniMAP Deputy Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs and Alumni (HEPA), Assoc Prof Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan said the success of the SUKUM contingent successfully defending the overall champion title for nine years in a row can be used as a moral boost for the students’ contingent to MASUM.
The UniMAP student contingent has also managed to improve its achievement at the 18th IMT-GT Varsity Carnival held in Thailand by winning two silver and one bronze medal compared to the last edition where UniMAP did not win any medal.
" Sports participation has become a culture among UniMAP staff, so it is hoped that students will make sports a culture that will bring good names to the university," he said when delivering his message to the contingent at the UniMAP Pauh Putra Residential College, here, yesterday.
The MASUM Carnival (Phase 1), will be held from 21st to 26th August at Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA), Terengganu.
UniMAP is participating in five events, men's beach volleyball, men's squash, mens and women taekwondo as well as men's table tennis.
A total of 60 UniMAP athletes and officials will be participating in the carnival.
