80 UniMAP International Students Receive IEC Graduation Certificates

Pauh Putra, 25 August – 80 Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) international students received International English Course (IEC) graduation certificates here recently.

The students who hail from 19 countries had attended the course from last April as  preparation to be enrolled in Bachelor's Degree programmes at the university.

UniMAP Vice Chancellor Dato’ Prof Dr Zul Azhar Zahid Jamal said he hoped all international students who continue their Bachelor's Degree studies will mingle with local students to create an environment of multi-racial harmony at UniMAP.

“Value your learning experience here by mingling and not just socialising with your compatriots so your life here will be more enjoyable.

“I believe many among the students who come to study here has never been out of their country before this, therefore the experience you accumulate here can be shared with your families at your home countries,” he said during the IEC Graduation Ceremony at the Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Library (PTSFP) Auditorium.

During the event, international students performed the martial arts of silat that also including the eating of, and walking barefoot and lying down on glass shards.

Also present was UniMAP Centre for International Languages (CIL) Director Prof Dr Harshita Aini Haroon.

IEC is a compulsory course for international students to increase their English proficiency before continuing their Degree studies at UniMAP.
