UniMAP SUKSIS Corps Recognised The Best In Malaysia
Kangar – Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) Police Undergraduate Voluntary Corps (SUKSIS) has been recognised as best overall SUKSIS Corps Squad among Public Universities (UA) at the 12th Passing Out Parade and Presentation of SUKSIS Corps Inspectors' Certificate of Appointment held recently at Universiti Putra Malaysia.
Mohamad Syafiq Zakaria, a UniMAP SUKSIS Corps trainee, brought pride to his contingent by receiving the UA Best Overall SUKSIS Corp Trainee Award.
UniMAP Vice Chancellor Dato’ Prof. Dr. Zul Azhar Zahid Jamal explained that the inaugural award was introduced to acknowledge and show appreciation for SUKSIS trainees who underwent a three-year training period (2013-2016) at their respective universities.
He stated that the award, which was introduced by the Bukit Aman Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department (JPJKKK), assessed each SUKSIS Corps group and trainee on their contributions at university, state, national and international levels.
Prof. Dr. Zul Azhar, who is also the UniMAP SUKSIS Corps Commandant, said that the UniMAP SUKSIS Corps has been active in organising numerous missions and community programmes within three years including two international events, namely the SUKSIS Community Outreach Program & Engagement (SCOPE) in Cambodia from 11 to 15 November 2015 and Sustain The Nature for The Future at Pulau Langkawi from 2 to 4 October 2015.
“At the national level, UniMAP SUKSIS Corps contributed their services to the Kelantan Post-Disaster Ops in January 2015 and became overall champion of the SUKSIS Northern Zone Sports Championship (SUTRA) in 2014.
“As Commandant, I am proud of the students' achievements not least when two UniMAP SUKSIS Corps trainees Nor Syafieqah Aiman Syahrul Effendy and Mohamad Syafiq were appointed Line Officer and Assistant Line Officer respectively during the passing out parade,” he stated today.
During the event, 1,082 trainees from 19 Public Universities, including 58 trainees from the UniMAP SUKSIS Corps, received Volunteer Police Inspector Certificates of Appointment from Deputy Inspector-General of Police YDH Tan Sri Noor Rashid Ibrahim.
Also, three SUKSIS Corps trainees received special awards, namely Best Overall Trainee (UniMAP) Mohamad Syafiq, Best External Trainee (UniMAP) Nor Syafieqah Aiman and Best Academic Trainee (UniMAP) Mohamad Zulhairi Zuriman.
Also present were Perlis Chief of Police SAC Dato Ab Rashid Ab Wahab, UniMAP Deputy Commandant SUPT/KS Prof. Madya Dr. Khairul Nizar Ismail, External Training Officer ASP/KS Raja Shah Erman Raja Arifin, UniMAP Academic Officer ASP/KS Rohazita Bahari and UniMAP Training Officer Insp. Rohmah Li.
According to Dr. Zul Azhar, the formation of competitive students should be in line with their academic achievements making their UniMAP SUKSIS Corps membership an added value compared to other students without comprehensive knowledge- and skill-building opportunities.
“With past success and community service initiatives, I hope that we continue to serve with great impact to the university, community, country and the world,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mohamad Syafiq declared that their success to be a meaningful one for his entire time being involved in university co-curricular activities.
“To be the best UA trainee is a dream for each participant and it will only serve to boost my passion to be more active in serving the community.
“A student's role is tremendous as we are the ones studying at institutes of higher education, active in learning and constantly being an example for the general public,” he stated.
He added that students must be prepared to be the primary motivator of Vision 2020 where their expertise, skill, opinion and vision will be counted towards the building of a developed country.
