UniMAP Claims First Place At National Day Parade For Second Consecutive Year

Kangar, 31 Ogos – The Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) contingent won the parade competition held in conjunction with the state-level 2016 56th National Day celebration in the Government Departments, Statutory Bodies and Private category at Dataran Merdeka today.

The UniMAP contingent led by Director of UniMAP Security Department Assoc Prof Nor Azmi Johari topped the category for the third time since 2013.

Nor Azmi stated that this year's success is the second consecutive win which proves the discipline and the fierce determination of all 37 members of the UniMAP contingent.

He explained that they have been training for two weeks in Perlis' recent uncertain weather.

“Although UniMAP has been busy with the new student intake and other university programmes, our determination has not waned for us achieve our success today,” he said.

The state-level 59th National Day celebration was participated by more than 70 contingents from Government Departments, Statutory Bodies and the Private Sector.

Gracing the event with their presence were Raja Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail and Raja Permaisuri Perlis Tuanku Tengku Fauziah Tengku Abdul Rashid.

Also in attendance were Raja Muda Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail and Raja Puan Muda Perlis Tuanku Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil who are respectively the Chancellor dan Pro Chancellor of UniMAP.

Also present were Perlis Chief Minister Datuk Seri Azlan Man, the State Exco and UniMAP Vice Chancellor Dato’ Prof Dr Zul Azhar Zahid Jamal.

Meanwhile, Zul Azhar expressed pride at the achievement and hoped that the UniMAP community will continue to be highly committed in these events whether at state, national or international levels.

The UniMAP contingent took home a cash prize of RM1,500.
