Students Are Urged To Improve The Spirit Of Volunteerism
Pauh Putra, October 10, 2016 Students of Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) are urged to be active and engage in programs involving volunteers to support the surrounding communities.
UniMAP Vice Chancellor Datuk Prof Dr. Zul Azhar Zahid Jamal, said he noticed that the culture or spirit of volunteerism among students is no longer as high as it used to be.
I hope the UniMAP Student Representative Council (SRC) will be able to practice the culture or the nature of volunteering among young people.
However, let us not do things solely to complete the requirements for graduation alone because the students are able to help to ensure the agenda or current issues which can be addressed together, he said when delivering his message at the UniMAP 2016/2017 SRC credentials presentation ceremony at Faizuddin Tuanku Syed Putra Library, recently.
Also present were the Dean of Academic Affairs, serving as Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and International) of UniMAP, Assoc Ir. Dr. Rezuwan Kamaruddin, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni) of UniMAP, Assoc Prof. Dr. Mohd Foad Sakdan and Dean of Student Affairs and Alumni of UniMAP, Assoc Razli Prof. Ahmad.
In addition, he said as a student, they can do many things to enhance the spirit of volunteerism.
Besides, the culture that students practice will be added value and extremely will be helpful when they work, he added.
During the ceremony, a total of 33 candidates of the 2016/2017 Council Session, received the credentials which consist of seven independent candidates and 26 candidates from the School of Engineering.
2016/2017 Session witnesses students from the School of Manufacturing Engineering, Nurhazwani Zabidin has been appointed as the new President of the SRC while Muhammad Amir Hakim Razali also from the same school was appointed as the Deputy President.
Datuk Zul Azhar also advised all the new appointed SRC members to be a positive example not only to the UniMAP students but also to the outside community.
SRC was urged to prepare mentally and physically, especially to face challenges in the year of 2017 in terms of economic and external influences.
In short, you should perform your responsibilities sincerely and with a high commitment towards continuity of dynamic leadership at the UniMAP level, he added.
