UniMAP Scored 100 Percent Success In MTE 2017

Kuala Lumpur, 18 February - Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) scored 100 percent of success in Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE) 2017 which took place on 16 to 18 February at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC).

Dean of Research Management and Innovation Centre (PPPI) UniMAP, Prof. Dr. Syed Alwee Al Junid Syed Junid said, through the competition, UniMAP strikes 3 gold, 7 silver and 9 bronze medals.

Besides that, UniMAP also received one Merit Award, through Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zainab Hamzah.

“We are very proud to know that all three products that won gold, also received Best Researcher Award and Special International Award. The Best Researcher Award was awarded to the research of Robust Green Composite Solder Paste by Dr. Norainiza Saud and also through a product called Energy Management System Controller by Ir. Dr. Rosnazri Ali,” added Prof. Dr. Syed Alwee during the award giving ceremony last night.

Meanwhile, another research product which is UniMAP Room Portable Gas Temperature Sensor Utilizing r-Go by Dr. Mahyiddin Muhammad Ramli received a Special Award from Croatia.

The award giving ceremony was completed by Malaysian Association of Research Scientists (MARS), Dr. Mashol Wan Zin.

According to Prof. Dr. Syed Alwee, UniMAP’s involvement in MTE 2017 focuses more on products by new researchers.

“I believed that with this exposure, it will help to nurture interest in research and innovation and thus, will help us to be able to produce more new technology in line with the government's wish to make Malaysia a developed nation by 2020," he added.

In the same ceremony at MTE 2017, Prof. Dr. Syed Alwee Al Junid Syed Junid was awarded with Outstanding Inventor Award.

It was awarded to him for his achievements, contributions and in constantly helping researchers to participate in research and innovation competition such as MTE.

MTE 2017 is an annual event hosted by MARS. It contested more than 300 products from colleges, polytechnics, universities and schools in Malaysia and abroad.
