UniMAP To Host 2017 Public Universities SMART Kor Suksis
KANGAR, February 23rd - Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) will host the Best Practices Empowerment Seminar (SMART) Kor Sukarelawan Polis Siswa Siswi (SUKSIS) which will take place on 26 to 28 February, bringing together more than 500 participants from 19 public universities (UA ) all over the country.
The Training Officer for UniMAP Kor SUKSIS, Asistant Superintendent Kor SUKSIS, Raja Shah Erman Raja Arifin said that in conjunction with the conference, a UA community service project involving five activities will be held simultaneously on 26th of February.
"The program, being named" Community Service Project - SUKSIS Berbakti "is one of the events that have been listed in this first edition of SMART hosted by UniMAP.
"We have listed five main activities, carried out simultaneously in this project which is to beautify the flyovers in the Changlun - Kuala Perlis Highway, upgrade and repair the house of poor families, school motivational programs, assistance to hospitals and free health screenings in selected villages," he said.
He added that the Crowning Prince of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamallulail, the Chancellor of UniMAP, will officiate the five activities.
He said that UniMAP is proud to be hosting the first edition of this event as it will gather more than 500 members of the Kor SUKSIS including 200 officers from the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM).
"Projects such as this may be the first held with the aim of giving a chance to Malaysian SUKSIS volunteer not only to harness their ideas and skills, but also to translate their effort to the community and at the same time help the community in accordance with the responsibility of the police force," he added.
This project is a joint effort with the Perlis Department of Public Works and IM4U Malaysia.
In conjunction with the SMART program, an opening ceremony commemerating A Decade of UniMAP Kor Suksis Carnival will be officiated by Datuk Prof. Dr. Zul Azhar Zahid Jamal.
