Youngpreneur Go! SSM 2017 Encourages Students to Become Young Entrepreneurs
Pauh Putra, 22 Februari 2017 – The Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) with the cooperation of Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) will be organising the Youngpreneurs Go! (YPGo) SSM 2017 Programme at Dewan Kecemerlangan UniMAP, Pauh Putra Campus on 24 and 25 February.
UniMAP Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic and International Prof Ir Dr Rezuwan Kamarudin said that the YPGo SSM 2017 programme will be held at UniMAP after the visit of SSM Chairperson Dato’ Sri Jamil Salleh who is also Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism (KPDNKK).
“The organisation of this programme is a result of Dato’ Sri Jamil inaugural social discourse programme at UniMAP. He was appointed a UniMAP CEO@Faculty last May.
“The YPGo SSM 2017 programme is intended to expose and encourage students to dabble into entrepreneurship even if they study in other courses,” he said in a statement here today.
The two-day programme will be officiated by the Raja Muda Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail who is also the UniMAP Chancellor.
KPDNKK Deputy Minister Dato’ Henry Sum Agong and UniMAP Vice Chancellor Dato’ Prof Dr Zul Azhar Zahid Jamal will also be visiting the officiation ceremony which will be held on 27 February.
Dr Rezuwan said that the YPGo SSM 2017 will provide an opportunity for Institutes of Higher Education (IPT) students in Perlis to do business during the programme.
“41 sales booths has been set up for students to do business and five food trucks will be participating to also expose students to various business activities.
“Besides that, there will be a talk with local celebrity Entrepreneurial Icons such as Elfira Loy and Fizo Oma, entrepreneur seminars, talks by agencies related to entrepreneurship and fun activities such as a Treasure Hunt,” he said.
Besides providing exposure about entrepreneurship, the YPGo SSM 2017 programme also intends to promote free business registration for IPT students.
Earlier, the government had allocated a special RM10 million grant to be dispensed via SSM in a period of 10 years for such purposes.
