PPK Microelectronics Wins The Majority Of Special Awards At EREKA 2016.
Kangar, March 17 - School of Engineering (PPK) Microelectronics won the majority of special category awards for the Best of the Best Award on the UniMAP Invention and Research Exhibition Expo (EREKA) 2016 at Dewan Ilmu (Ilmu Hall) , UniMAP Pauh Putra Main Campus, recently.
They won three category of special awards from six categories.
The first products selected is the DSSC STEM KIT - FROM JUICE TO POWER, a research project by Ili Salwani Mohamad in the Education, Humanities and Quality of Life category.
The second product belongs to Dr. Zainol Sohiful Maher Murad. The DC-DC Converter Switching Regulator for Power Supply Module is in the Electrical and Electronics category.
The third product is BC PILLS FOR ACUTE DIARRHEA TREATMENT by Siti Salwa Mat Isa for the Medical, Pharmaceutical and Health category.
Other selected product is from the School of Computer and Communication, Dr. Muhammad Imran Ahmad, with his product FACE SKETCH RECOGNITION FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT APPLICATION in the category of Information Technology and Multimedia.
Microwind Turbine Energy Havester by Dr. Norkharziana Mohd Nayan from the School of Electrical Systems also won for the Agriculture, Aquaculture and Environment category.
Pulse Jet Air Dryer won the special award for the category of Materials, Manufacturing; Mechanical and Civil. This product is the result of research by Ir. Dr. Ishak Mohamad Shaiful Ashrul of The School of Manufacturing
All six products were selected as the best products after also winning gold medals in the exhibition. They received RM250.00 in cash, certificates for the award and also certificates of participation.
A new category, Short Video Category, were also introduced in which three products have been named as winners.
Gold medal winner for this category is Prof. Dr. Uda Hashim from the Institute of Nano Electronic Engineering (INEE) for his product which is the In House Fabricated Non - Invasive Detection Kit Glocuse.
The silver medal belongs to Maz Jamilah Masnan from the Engineering Mathematics Institute (IMK) for her product Math Genius Begins With Damat.
The bronze medal was awarded to Ruhiyuddin Mohd Zaki from the Center of Excellence for Geopolymer and Green Technology (CEGeoTech) for his product, KEZITE.
They each received RM500.00, RM400.00, RM300.00, certificates for the award and certificates of participation.
A total of 154 products were selected to receive medals with a composition of 62 gold medals, 51 silver medals and 41 bronze medals from 193 research products that have participated in EREKA 2016.
