Ukraine to collaborate with UniMAP for UAV System
Kangar, 27 March- University Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) received a visit from Skyeton Aircraft Industrial Company of Ukraine with its Malaysian partner, True Altitude Sdn. Bhd., which is currently participating in the International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) 2017.
Both companies are involved in Unmanned Aircraft Vehicles (UAV) industry and intend to forge a strategic partnership with the Centre of Excellence for Unmanned Aerial Systems (COEUAS) which led by Prof. Dr. Hazry Desa.
According to Prof. Dr. Hazry Desa, the visit was to see the potentials and opportunities for cooperation that can be established mainly in research on UAV industrial technology.
"UniMAP will take this opportunity to further expand the research on the UAV technology with the support of the industry that will be able to materialize the results of this research," he added.
In addition, the two companies were also explored the UAV technology that produced by UniMAP. The Skyeton was represented by its Chairman, Oleksandr Stepura whereas True Altitude was represented by its Executive Director, Datuk Hazizan Ahmad.
According to Dr. Hazry, UniMAP and the other two companies have agreed to collaborate on the aspects of UAV technology transfer, especially in the field of image processing.
Moreover, he said, they are also willing to send UniMAP representative for UAV flight control training, especially in the aspect of UAV Skyeton installation.
"It is important because SAIC has agreed to appoint UniMAP as a representative of Maintenance, Repair and Operations Center (MRO) when their UAV enters the local market and Southeast Asia plus Muslim countries in Asia," he added.
