UniMAP Wins Singing Competition Organised By Perlisfm For The Fifth Year Running

Kangar, 1 April – Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) maintained its hold as champions for the fifth year running in a singing contest hosted by Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) PerlisFM.

The UniMAP singer, a staff of the Cultural and Recreation Unit (UKR), Mohd Hafedz Halim covered M. Nasir's song Mustika which garnered him the triumph which was held at Dewan 2020 here.

Director of UKR Mohd Izwan Izhar Haris said that this was the fifth running victory since participating from 2013 in the 60s and 70s Songs in Northern Accent Contest.

“This was followed by the 60s Songs in Northern Accent Contest in 2014 which was won by Syamsyuhaida Sabri. Besides Hafedz, Norefendy Ghazali, another UKR staff member, also became a contest finalist this year, which was run in conjunction with the 71st Anniversary of RTM,” he said.

Ultimately, Hafedz took home RM3,000 cash prize and a trophy.

According to Mohd Izwan, UKR is active in participating in singing competitions at state and national levels to provide a broad exposure to its employees.

“Besides contests, we also regularly hold performances that include musical and dance performances at UniMAP and for external functions,” he explained.
