Perlis IPTs Cooperate To Implement NBOS

Arau, 21 June – To answer the government's call in emphasising the concept of high impact with fast implementation at low cost, Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) along with five other institutes of higher education (IPT) in Perlis has taken the initiative to cooperate to organise the Ihtifal Ihya’ Ramadhan Event which was held last night.

According to UniMAP Vice Chancellor Dato’ Prof. Dr. Zul Azhar Zahid Jamal, this was the first time six IPTs in Perlis collaborated to hold the event.

“The idea of merging six IPTs for this event was an idea formed by the Duli Yang Teramat Mulia (DYTM) Raja Muda Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail.

“InsyaAllah we will collaborate again in Aidilfitri programmes, and other academic- and research-oriented programmes,” he spoke during his welcome speech on behalf of the IPTs at Dewan Harumanis, Politeknik Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin (PTSS).

The six IPTs involved were Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), Kolej Universiti Islam Perlis (KUIPs), Institut Pendidikan Guru Malaysia (IPGM) Perlis Campus, Kolej Matrikulasi Perlis, Politeknik Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin (PTSS) and UniMAP.

Dato’ Dr. Zul Azhar also welcomed any such collaboration that could build and strengthen bonds between the IPT communities and create opportunities for future cooperation.

“This cooperation fulfils the National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS) as encouraged by the government in line with the concept of commonalities and collegiality which is recommended by the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT).

“In fact this concept could be a creative method to provide high value at reasonable cost,” he said.

Also launched at the event was the National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS) with the participation of the six IPTs.

“For example, the cooperation between UniMAP and PTSS in the aspect of teaching and learning, final year projects and visits to laboratories and facilities has been outlined and will soon be implemented,” he said.

He added that UniMAP has also been cooperating with schools by contributing expertise to cultivating interest among school children in the field of Science, Technology and Mathematics by organising robotics workshops, LEGO robotics workshops, go-kart clinics, research and innovation competitions and much more.

“Such commitment and cooperation would continue to be expanded in the future, InsyaAllah,” he remarked.

During the event, 30 underprivileged and orphaned students from the six IPTs were honoured.

Besides the feast, the students also received duit raya which was given by the Duli Yang Maha Mulia (DYMM) Raja Perempuan Perlis Tuanku Tengku Fauziah binti Tengku Rashid.

The event was graced by the presence of DYMM Raja Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail.

Also present was the DYTM Raja Muda Perlis and the DYTM Raja Puan Muda Perlis Tuanku Hajjah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil.

The event was enlivened by 700 guests including state dignitaries, heads of federal and state departments, and employees and students from the IPTs.
