ASG 2017 Celebrates 164 Excellent Staff At UniMAP

Kangar, March 29 - 164 Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) staff were celebrated in the Anugerah Seri Gemilang (ASG) 2017. The event held at Seri Malaysia Hotel was organized to recognize their excellent service at UniMAP.

127 recipients received the Excellent Service Award (APC), 31 recipients received the Special Excellent Service Award (AKPC), comprised of 7 categories and 6 recipients received the Special Appreciation Award (APK)

The Vice Chancellor of UniMAP, Dato’ Prof Dr. Zul Azhar Zahid Jamal believes that these recognitions will motivate staff to further perform in their service.

He added that UniMAP had achieved a lot in its 17 years of establishment, all due to the staff’s committment and hard work.

 “Among UniMAP’s latest success is being ranked at 450 in the world by the Quacquarelli Symonds World University Ranking (QS) based on the engineering and technology subject,” he said in his speech at the event.

The ranking indeed affirms UniMAP status in the world.

The ceremony was also graced with the presence of UniMAP Chancellor, Raja Muda Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail and UniMAP Pro-Chancellor, Raja Puan Muda Perlis Tuanku Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil.

Dato’ Dr. Syed Omar Sharifuddin Syed Ikhsan, the Perlis State Secretary representing the Menteri Besar Perlis and Jafperi Othman, member of the University Board of Directors were also present during the ceremony.

Tuanku Syed Faizuddin in his speech had outlined 10 traits of an excellent worker and wishes that UniMAP staff should strive to be the best at all times.

Among the traits are being proactive and having the initiative to start something before being asked to do so.

 “Other than that, trustworthiness is also the basis for success in everthing. You must be someone that is trustworthy, honest, sincere, always speaks the truth and never lie, steal or accept or offer bribe,” he added.

A Memorandum of Understanding signing ceremony between the University of Medea, Algeria represented by Prof Dr. Abdallah El-Hadj (Director of Laboratory of Mechanic, Physic and Mathematical Modelling (Lmp2m), and UniMAP,  represented by Dr Zul Azhar took place before ASK 2017. The MoU was signed in order for the two universities to collaborate on staff and students exchange, research collaboration, conference organization and other programs.

A ceremony to celebrate the 48th birthday of UniMAP Pro-Chancellor also took place during the event.
