INEE Gives Nanoengineering Disclosures To School Students

Ayer Hitam, 11 April – To give exposure on Nanotechnology Engineering to school students, Institute of Nanoelectronic Engineering (INEE), Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) participated in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematical (STEM) exhibition, here today.

The exhibition was held at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Ayer Hitam, in conjunction with STEM and Career Week 2018 organized by the school.

The director of INEE, Associate Professor Dr. Ruslinda A.Rahim said that besides the exhibition, the INEE team also organized other activities such as quizzes and career briefings involving 300 students (form 3 – 5) from the school.

The director and her team members, Dr. Mohammad Nuzaihan Md Nor (the program coordinator), Dr. Nur Hamidah Abdul Halim and Ts En Jasni Mohamed Ismail took the initiative to participate in the exhibition so that the young generation would be given early exposure on Nanotechnology Engineering.

"We have to give them early exposure so that later when they further their studies at the tertiary level, they already have knowledge about engineering, especially on Biosensor and Nanoelectronic Engineering," she said at the event.

She added that this effort was in line with the government's aspiration to produce a tech-savvy generation to support the national development.

"In addition, this exhibition serves to provide information on the importance of technology in daily life and community development for future use," she continued.

Other than SMK Ayer Hitam and UniMAP, SMK Tanjung Pauh and SMK Mahawangsa also took part in the exhibition.

According to Associate Professor Dr. Ruslinda, INEE intends to continue with such community service program (CSR) in the future by bringing students from the schools around Perlis and Kedah to INEE. "Indirectly, the students can see the technology available at INEE to enhance their knowledge and interest in Nanotechnology Engineering," she said.
