iFEST 1.0 Encourages Students To Balance Life And The Hereafter

ARAU – Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) always aims to produce  dynamic students who are equipped with worldly knowledge and also the hereafter.

Because of that, UniMAP Islamic Center, in collaboration with Surau Pauh Putra Committee has organized the Islamic Festival 2018 (iFEST 1.0) to educate students on Islamic values.

Quoting the director of UniMAP Islamic Center during the festival, Prof. Madya Dr. Shuhairimi Abdullah said that iFEST 1.0 had also provided opportunities for Sahabat Pusat Islam and MPKK TAR to help strengthen the intellectual culture among UniMAP staff and students.

"As an educational institution, it is our responsibility to teach Islamic values to the students. We are also aiming to make iFEST an annual event by UniMAP Islamic Center. We will improve this festival by incorporating more beneficial programs to involve our youth in religious activities in the future, Insya Allah," he added.

iFEST 1.0 is a one-day festival organized by UniMAP Islamic Center at the surau in the campus.  Talks and forums on religious topics were some of the activities during the festival. The talk was delivered by Perlis mufti, Associate Professor Datuk Dr. Mohd Asri Zainal Abidin, while Dr. Danial Zainal Abidin talked about the end of the world during his session in the forum.

“This program is the first ever organized by Sahabat Pusat Islam and MPKK TAR UniMAP and is hoped to strengthen the silaturrahim among students through mahabbah approach,” said Muhammad Hanafi Yaacob during the event.

“I am hoping for iFEST 2.0 later to be the initiator to mahabbah among students and staff in UniMAP,” he said, concluding the interview.
