10 UniMAP’s Products Win Gold at ITEX 2018
Kangar, 12th May – Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) research products gained global recognition when they won 10 gold medals at the International Exhibition, Innovation and Technology Exhibition (ITEX) recently.
UniMAP Vice-Chancellor Datuk Prof. Dr. Zul Azhar Zahid Jamal said UniMAP sent 16 products to ITEX 2018 where 10 won gold medals while six others won silver.
He mentioned that UniMAP managed to score 100 per cent of the medals.
“UniMAP is focusing on promoting the products of young researchers.
“This arrangement was proven fruitful when this year we managed to maintain last year's number of gold medal wins and I believe this achievement will improve in the future,” he said when contacted recently.
Among the UniMAP research products that won gold medals were the Freezer And Chiller Delivery Box by Dr. Mohd Zakimi Zakaria, Hybrid Graphene-Copper Antenna For Brain Tumour Detection (Dr. Mohd Aminuddin Jamlos, LORAFI (Dr. Ammar Zakaria), Harumanis Healthy Harmony (Prof. Madya Dr. Mahmad Nor Jaafar), Broadband RF Energy Harvester (Ismahayati Adam), Nanometrological Aptasensor To Diagnose Blood Clotting Defect (Prof. Dr. Subash CB Gopinath) and Geoairsense: Cloud Based Air Quality Monitoring System (Assoc. Prof. Dr. Latifah Munirah Kamarudin).
The three other products were the Integrated DC Power Supply For Low Voltage Renewable DC Microgrid (Ir Tunku Muhammad Nizar Tunku Mansur), Hp-Oyspore: High Potential Spore Induction Gray Oyster Mushroom Liquid Spawn (Prof. Dr. Zarina Zakaria) and Dr. Md Tasyrif Abdul Rahman's product Connected Car: Engines Monitoring Via Internet Of Things (IOT).
ITEX 2018 assembled over 1,000 inventions from 20 countries such as China, Germany, Korea and Turkey.
Among the main attractions of ITEX 2018 were the World Young Designers Exhibition (WYIE), Asian Young Design Exhibition (AYIE), Malaysian Young Design Exhibition (MYIE) and activities such as PITCH4FUND sessions, novice entrepreneur seminars and Venture Capital Talks To Entrepreneurs (VC2E).
ITEX 2018 was organised by the Malaysian Invention and Design Society (MINDS) as a platform to showcase new inventions, technologies and products.
