School of Bioprocess Engineering Helps Underprivileged For Aidilfitri

KANGAR – With Aidilfitri just around the corner, the Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) School of Bioprocess Engineering stepped forward to help three underprivileged families.

School of Bioprocess Engineering Senior Lecturer Dr. Syazni Zainul Kamal said the Underprivileged Search Programme is an annual event held during Ramadhan aimed at raising awareness on charity, helping to alleviate the burden of underprivileged families and encouraging closer ties between UniMAP staff and the local community.

“We have identified three families who are in need of aid and among the contributions provided were rice, sugar, oil, mattresses, pillows, clothes and cash.

“These donations were contributed by the School of Bioprocess Engineering staff,” he said when contacted recently.

Syazni also said that this program was even more meaningful as they have also helped a student who had rejected a UniMAP Diploma in Engineering (Metallurgical Engineering) offer because of financial constraints.

“As a result of the efforts of the Underprivileged Search Committee, we have succeeded in helping this student to obtain aid from the Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs).

“The School has also started a flash donation fund and a readmission appeal into the diploma programme and the student would be enrolled for the second intake on June 25,” he said.
