UniMAP Second Intake Reunites Twins
Pauh Putra, 20 Sept – A pair of twin siblings are greatly relieved as they have been enrolled into the same university and are now beginning the Manufacturing Engineering programme at Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP).
Earlier, Noratiqah Mohd Izer secured a place at the engineering university during the first intake on August 28 while her twin sister Norafiqah enrolled in UniMAP yesterday.
Noratiqah explained that they had never been separated before. They even pursued the same Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (Textile) programme at Politeknik Seberang Perai.
She said that at first the situation saddened them because they had to be separated but eventually felt relieved when Norafiqah managed to get a place at UniMAP in the same course during the second intake.
“My parents encouraged my twin sister to appeal for a place in UniMAP and praise Allah she also managed to enrol in the same course,” she said.
The daughters of an army veteran and a teacher, the ladies said that the good news lifted their spirits and motivated them to attend lectures at UniMAP. They hope they would be able quickly adapt being away from family.
“We are from Penang. It was never a problem when we were studying in Politeknik Seberang Perai because it was not far from home so being away this time would make us feel more comfortable if we studied at the same university and attended the same lectures,” she said.
UniMAP Vice Chancellor Dato' Prof Dr Zul Azhar Zahid Jamal said that the second intake UniMAP received 393 new students who enrolled in Bachelor's Degree programmes for the 2018/2019 Academic Session while the university's first intake earlier greeted 2,198 new students.
He said that UniMAP welcomes the arrival of the new students and hopes that they will be able to adapt to the campus environment and attend their lectures comfortably.
A range of facilities have been provided by UniMAP and 100 percent of students stay at UniMAP's residential colleges therefore parents should not worry about renting accommodations and transportation, he said.
