Doubly Fortunate For Nur Dinie
KANGAR, 13 March – Fortune smiled upon Universiti Malaysia Perlis graduate Nur Dinie Zubir when she was recently offered a job after winning awards at the C.Drive Program organised by Continental Automotive Components Malaysia Sdn Bhd.
After being anointed the recipient of the Best Project Award (Gold Medal) and the Excellence Award (Gold Medal), the Bachelor of Electronic Engineering Technology (Electronic Network Design) graduate from UniMAP Faculty of Engineering Technology (FTK) was offered a position as a Junior Software Engineer at the company which was based in Pulau Pinang.
When contacted, Nur Dinie attributed the event as doubly fortunate as she did not expect to be simultaneously conferred the awards and offered a job.
“It's my dream come true and a synchronicity for me upon being offered a position at a multinational corporation after graduating last October.
“I am lucky as UniMAP emphasised hands-on and practical concepts before sending us for industrial training (LI) and eventually being employed at the company.
“My experience here between January to Jun 2018 for LI and July to December 2018 for the C.Drive Program taught me the ins and outs of the automotive field,” she said.
Besides the position and award, she also took home a cash prize of RM2000 for each category won.
Besides Nur Dinie, graduates from 14 other universities, among them Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia (UIAM), were short-listed after undergoing a number of filtering processes.
Meanwhile, the UniMAP FTK Industrial Network and Graduate Marketability Executive Committee Ts. Mohamad Rizal Abdul Rejab said that UniMAP signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in March 2018.
“Good networking relations between UniMAP and Continental has expedited a transfer of expertise from the standpoint of human resource, research, etcetera.
“The UniMAP graduate career 2018 marketability data reveals that six of our graduates have been accepted as employees at the company.
“I am certain that the practical teaching and learning techniques enhanced the skillsets of UniMAP students, such as the skills of programming, software, computer networking, integrated systems and others which facilitated their acceptance into the industry after graduation,” he said.
