Se-Sport Team Wins Video Games Competition 2019

Kangar, 15 March – The negative stigma about playing video games is often associated with excessive waste of time to the extent of the game adversely affecting one’s life.

However, for Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) student Muhammad Ikhmal Yusman, this actually depends on how each individual manages their time.

He said that playing video games does not only ease his stress while studying but also improve his thinking skills.

"We just have to be good at time management. We need to balance the time spent between playing and studying, and we also need to choose the right time to play, so video games would not affect our studies," he added.

Earlier, Muhamad Ikhmal and his team-mates in UniMAP SE-Sport Team won the first place at Pro Evolution Soccer 2019 (PES 2019) in the E-Sport Tournament for Northern Region at Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) recently.

The other players are Muhammad Ikhmal's friends from the same school (School of Electrical Systems Engineering), Muhammad Azif Amirul Azmi and Muhammad Naqiuddeen Abdul Aziz.

“By participating in video game competitions, we can meet new friends from the other universities to share ideas with,” Muhammad Ikhmal added.

He said he had previously participated in many video game competitions since 2016 but this is his first time representing UniMAP with a team at the campus sports tournament.

"We trained at my friends' video game studio in Jitra, Kedah every weekend and are determined to win the nationals next month.”

"The RM600 cash we recently won will be used to cover the competition expenses in Kuala Lumpur to represent the university," he said.
