17 International Cuisines Enliven the Aidilfitri Celebration and International Food Festival @ UniMAP 2015
PADANG BESAR, 30 July — The Aidilfitri Celebration and International Food Festival @ UniMAP 2015 festivity was further enlivened by cuisine from 17 countries.
The food was prepared by UniMAP students and international staff members. Among the countries that took part are the United States, Somalia, Yemen, Egypt, Bosnia, Thailand, Uzbekistan, Nigeria, Bangladesh, Japan, China, South Korea, Indonesia, Libya, Pakistan and host country Malaysia.
DYMM Raja Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamallulail graced the event with his presence to officiate the celebrations.
Also present for the occasion were the DYMM Raja Perempuan Perlis Tuanku Tengku Fauziah Tengku Abdul Rashid; and the Raja Muda Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail dan the Raja Puan Muda Perlis Tuanku Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil also the Chancellor and Pro Chancellor of UniMAP respectively.
Also in attendance were the Perlis Chief Minister Datuk Seri Azlan Man, UniMAP Vice Chancellor Briged. Jen. Datuk Prof. Dr. Kamarudin Hussin and the Executive Council of the state government.
The event was attended by over 2,000 guests that consisted of UniMAP staff members, students and the local community.
During the ceremony, the DYMM Raja Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamallulail also officiated the pre-launching of the Al-Saodah Mosque which will be built at the UniMAP UniCITI Alam Campus.
The 4000 square foot mosque, which will be expected to be able to hold a congregation of 500 at a time, is a contribution of the Executive Chairperson of the Proven Group of Companies (Proven) Dato’ Yusof Jusoh.
It is one of Proven's corporate social responsibility (CSR) to develop the campus.
At the end of the celebration the University's Top Management closed the event by giving out duit raya to childen and students.
