UniMAP SUKSIS HOST SUSTAIN THE NATURE FOR THE FUTURE PROGRAM IN LANGKAWI
LANGKAWI, Oct. 12 - 61 members of the Police Voluntary Students (SUKSIS) from Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) have joined the Sustain The Nature For The Future organized on the 3rd and 4th October, recently.
The two days and one night program was organized by UniMAP, The Rotary Club of Langkawi (RCL), Langkawi Research Centre (PPL) Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Biro Tatanegara Negeri Perlis and the Marine Police.
UniMAP SUKSIS Commander, Dato 'Prof. Dr. Zul Azhar Zahid Jamal, the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic and International of UniMAP said that the program's objective is to build a sense of appreciation for nature and natural resources other than strengthening team spirit.
"On the first day, all participants participated in the Kilim River Cleanup Program organized by (RCL) and the Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) in which we were brought to small islands and waters of Langkawi to collect garbage and clean the designated area.
"Other than the UniMAP SUKSIS, the program were also attended by 900 participants from the Police Training Centre, Navy, Schools, Hotels, tourists and locals," he added.
Dato 'Dr. Zul said that at the end of the program, all participants received a certificate of appreciation from the organizers which was recognized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
"All UniMAP SUKSIS members will continue to give high cooperation to assist the Malaysian Government in ensuring the cleanliness and beauty of Kilim Geopark Forest in Pulau Langkawi to ensure continuos UNESCO recognition.
"This is one of UniMAP corporate social responsibility in ensuring environmental sustainability," he said.
The program was also joined by the Representative for the Perlis Police Chief, Supt V.Raja A / L Vadievelu, Head of the Department of Crime Prevention and the Perlis Community Safety Contingent.
Also present were the Deputy Commander of UniMAP SUKSIS, SUKSIS Supt ,Assoc. Prof. Dr. Khairul Nizar Ismail, UniMAP SUKSIS Coordinator, Assistant Superintendent Che Yob Pin and SUKSIS Training Officer , Assistant Superintendent Raja Raja Shah Erman Arifin.
In addition to the Kilim River Cleanup Program, SUKSIS members were also involved with the Telaga Tujuh Waterfalls Sustainability and the High Profile Policing Program (HPP).
Dato 'Dr. Zul added that UniMAP SUKSIS is committed to making this an annual program to support the preservation of the environment and natural resources which serves as a catalyst for peaceful and harmonious ecosystem in line with their responsibilities as students who are educated and trained as a volunteer member of the Royal Malaysian Police.
