Anna Maria BRAUN Appointed As UniMAP Adjunct Professor
Kangar, 16 October – In an effort to uphold the nation's intent to realise the Malaysian Education Blueprint – Higher Education Sector (PPPM-PT) 2015-2025 which covers 10 shifts to strengthen the national higher education system, UniMAP has appointed the President of B. Braun Asia-Pacific Region Anna Maria Braun as UniMAP Adjunct Professor for two years beginning 14 October 2015.
The appointment was awarded by Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) Vice Chancellor Brig. Jeneral Datuk Prof. Emeritus Dr. Kamarudin Hussin in a ceremony held at B. Braun Medical Industries Sdn. Bhd., Pulau Pinang recently.
According to Datuk Kamarudin, among the 10 shifts to strengthen the national higher education system includes the creation of well-balanced and holistic graduates with a mind for entrepreneurship.
“Through this appointment, she will be responsible as Industrial Advisor of the University to help enhance UniMAP's core programmes.
“She will also share her expertise with university students in ensuring teaching, learning and research activities performed will be in accordance with industry needs,” he said when contacted recently.
Earlier, Anna Braun had been officially appointed by the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education (KPT) as National Adjunct Professor which involves the CEO Faculty Programme (CFP) that includes a range of Chief Executive Officers (CEO) from famous corporations in Malaysia.
“As a result, these CEOs have been divided among 22 public universities (UA) and Anna Braun has been placed at UniMAP to share her expertise.
“We will figure out a mode suitable with her expertise, whether cooperating with a university professor to teach a subject, or to present a keynote address, or a motivational talk, or as in an advisory panel, or in some equivalent role,” said Datuk Kamarudin.
Datuk Kamarudin added that those appointed are renowned figures in industry and possess vast knowledge of their field pertaining to their attached universities.
“I am certain that the appointment will help boost UniMAP's engineering-based expertise to help support the 10 shifts as a whole with a focus to generate excellent talent and an innovation ecosystem to produce high quality engineering and TVET graduates.
“To date, there has been 22 CEOs from various multinational corporations selected into this programme who will cooperate with their selected universities in the near future.
“Among them are Air Asia Berhad with Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Media Prima Berhad with Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn. Bhd with Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), Huawei Malaysia with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), B. Braun Medical Industries (M) Sdn Bhd with UniMAP and many more,” he said.
