Youngsters To Return To Original ‘FITRAH’ - UniMAP Vice Chancellor
Kangar, October 28 - Vice Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), Brig. General Datuk Prof. Emeritus Dr. Kamarudin Hussin urged the community to return to its original fitrah or nature.
"The society, especially young people need to learn to explore the history and struggles of previous figures in foestering a love for the country in the hearts and minds of each one.
"History is a testament to all events and happenings," said Datuk Kamarudin in the text of a speech that was delivered by Research Fellow of the Royal Malaysian Institute Research Centre (PKIRM), a lecturer at UniMAP School of Human Development and Teknokomunikasi (iKOM), Mohd Kasturi Nor Abd. Aziz at the oficciation of 37th Malaysian History Polemics with the topic "The Early History of Perlis," this morning.
He adds that the history not only as proof of the superiority of a civilization, nation and race performance. Indeed it is very important and even determine its identity and continuity of the political power of a nation.
Moreover, history can also be a catalyst for the surge of a nation.
UniMAP became the organizer of the 37th Malaysian History Polemics Council roadshow organized by the National Archives of Malaysia held at Dewan Kecemerlangan, Kompleks Dewan Kuliah in the UniMAP's Main Campus Pauh Putra.
The ceremony was officiated by the Deputy Director (Research and Development), the National Archives, Savumthararaj A / L Gopal.
Also present were the Director of Research and Documentation of the National Archives, Samariah Md Ali; and UniMAP Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Fo'ad Sakdan who also serves as chairman of the session.
Among the presenters are Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zuliskandar Ramli from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM); Dr Mohd Supian Sabtu from Universiti Malaya (UM); and Dr Hazman Hassan from Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM).
For the record, as of August 2015, this program was conducted in 36 sessions that involve presentation of 101 papers and commenced in 1994.
A total of 19 sessions touched on the early days of Prehistory; Pre-Malacca; Malacca Sultanate; Pre-Sultanate of Johor - Riau and the Sultanate of Johor - Riau focused on the establishment of political, governmental, commercial, socio-cultural, religious, linguistic, placement, replacement systems, foreign sources and local laws, customs and traditions.
Session - 20 to 22 that took place on 21 March 2002, 9 May 2006 and 3 November 2008 centers around the theme of Malaysia Up century - 20, focusing discussions on Kedah Government political, administrative, legal, and external relations, economic and trade, as well as language, civilisation, customs, culture.
The program continues with the theme of Early Settlement and the Government of Malaysia before 1400 AD, focusing on Sarawak Early Settlement, Sabah Early History, Early History of Pahang, Perak Early History.
Finally, with the same theme, the Malaysian History Polemics Council continued to the states of Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Perlis and Melaka.
