UniMAP Committed To Actualising The First PPPM (PT) Shift

Kangar, 4 November – Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) is committed to actualising the first shift as outlined in the Malaysian Education Development Plan (Higher Education) 2015-2025 (PPPM (PT)) which was launched by the Prime Minister on 7 April 2015.

UniMAP Vice Chancellor Brig. Jeneral Datuk Prof. Dr. Kamarudin Hussin said that the first shift directly involves students.

UniMAP is committed to providing opportunities for our young students to enjoy a holistic education geared to the six main attributes or domains.

“The six attributes are ethics and spirituality, leadership skills, national identity, language skills, thinking skills and knowledge,” he said when delivering the welcome speech at the Entrepreneurial Lecture by Dato’ Yusof Jusoh, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Proven Group of Companies and a UniMAP Adjunct Professor, which was held at Dewan Kecemerlangan, Lecture Hall Complex, Pauh Putra UniMAP Main Campus yesterday.

Other panellists of the entrepreneurial lecture include Maybank Shariah Indonesia Consultant Baharudin Abd. Majid and the Managing Director of Food Artists (M) Sdn. Bhd. (Burger Bakar Abang Don) Sabrie Salleh.

According to Datuk Kamarudin, one can only be considered a balanced student if he or she has mastered all six attributes which also makes the person a holistic graduate.

UniMAP will devise a framework and special discipline to help students achieve mastery of all six attributes while learning at UniMAP.

He added that the framework will build mental toughness, physical endurance and a strong willpower for an excellent and highly regarded self-identity.

“It's true that not every individual will become an entrepreneur. But to possess the trait, attitude, mentality and discipline of an entrepreneur is an added value for everyone whatever career they might embark in,” he said.

He called for the students to benefit from the chance to understand and study the entrepreneurship knowledge shared by Dato' Yusof.

“Consider him a mine of knowledge in entrepreneurship and your task as students is to increase your effort in digging the mine to acquire as much knowledge as possible,” he said.

Dato' Yusof is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Proven Group of Companies, a construction and manufacturing company that specialises in Industrialised Building Systems (IBS).

Additionally, the company offers IBS training not just to its employees but to users of Proven IBS.
