UniMAP And YTSP Fund Students To Taiwan
Kangar, 18 November - Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) with Tuanku Syed Putra Foundation (YTSP) are funding two students to participate in Kaohsiung International Invention and Design Expo which will be held in Taiwan from 3rd to 7th December 2015.
The announcement was made by UniMAP’s Vice Chancellor, Brig. General Datuk Prof. Emeritus Dr Kamarudin Hussin, during the prize giving ceremony, at Perlis Engineering Research Learning & Innovation Symposium (PERLIS) 2015, held at Dewan Kapitol UniMAP yesterday.
“The funding are one of the partnership between UniMAP and YTSP, aimed to inspire students to be more innovative”.
"Students from SMS Tuanku Syed Putra (SMSTSP) and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Tuanku Lailatul Shahreen won PERLIS 2015, and therefore, will represent UniMAP next month in Kaohsiung International Invention and Design Expo, Taiwan.
The products to be contested in Taiwan are Hydro Fertilizer by Puteri Nurfarahliana Mansor dan Sara Nurdini Sabry from SMSTSP, and the second product is a Tennis Ball Collector by Shafiq Rezal; Foo Sher Lee; Wan Muhammad Hazim Wan Noor Azairi; and Muhammad Aidil Kashul from SMK Tuanku Lailatul Shahreen.
PERLIS 2015 was held for the first time and, yet, it received perticipations of 24 products from 21 schools. The symposium was organized by Institut Kepimpinan Strategik dan Komuniti (IKSK) UniMAP with collaboration from Malaysian Research & Innovation Society (MyRIS), YTSP and Jabatan Pendidikan Negeri (JPN) .
According to Datuk Kamaruddin, UniMAP too will work together with other schools in Perlis to ensure that the field of TVET will gain its place in society.
“This effort is also a part of our social responsibility (USR), where at the same time we would like to make use of our knowledge and capability to benefit our community ”.
HRH Crown Prince of Perlis, who is also the Canselor of UniMAP, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra attended the closing ceremony together with HRH Tuanku Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil, Pro Canselor of UniMAP.
Also present during the closing ceremony are YTSP Secretary, Dato’ Johari Mohd Darus; and the representative from JPN Perlis, Amran Rejab.
