University Administrators Must Be Committed To Achieving Success - Mary Yap

PADANG BESAR, Nov 21 (Bernama) -- Committed and responsible administrators can lead a university towards excellence, says Higher Education Deputy Minister Datuk May Yap.

She said university administrators should have important qualities like being visionary, regularly meeting ordinary people, caring and disciplined.

Speaking at the launch of an empowerment programme at UniMAP's Sungai Chuchuh campus here today, Yap said UniMAP's achievements in its 14 years included many successes in various fora, clearly reflecting its objective of becoming a dynamic engineering university.

"The success of a university depends on the courage of its administrators in implementing programmes that can help improve its excellence," she added.

She said universities should always hold programmes which would improve the communication skills of its students and staff.
